DCRT RAFFLE 2012 DRAWN
On 12th May, 2012 Malcolm Freckelton, a Trustee of The David Clarke Railway Trust, drew the winnig tickets in the 2012 draw organised by Andy Fillingham, Chairman of Friends of the Great Central Main Line.
As last year the raffle was in aid of the Raising the Roof – One Last Push appeal to fund the renovation of the last remaining part of the Loughborough Central platform canopy on Platform No.1. Almost £7000 was raised by the raffle which is a major boost to the funds required to make a September, 2012 start on this last remaining section.
The road level canopy was recently completed and the platform canopy on Platform No.2 is rapidly nearing completion so only Platform No.1 now needs attention.
DCRT and Friends thanks all those that supported the raffle which is such an important part of providing funds for the preservation of the Great Central Railway. The funds raised exceed those raised last year which in these times of severe financial constraint is a major tribute to all the Friends that so ably and willingly come to our aid.
The first five winners are as follows:
1st Mr R J Naylor Groby, Leics Cab Ride on Grand Central Express from York to London
2nd L Bonser Thringstone, Leics Bronze “Drive a Loco” Experience on GCR
3rd S R Shaw Sutton Coldfield VIP tour of Vulcan bomber
4th Roy Cockroft Wigston, Leics Footplate ride on Oliver Cromwell (or nearest equivalent)
