Bonfire Night Success

Bonfire Night, 2013 - Michael SuttonThe GCR’s annual bonfire night proved yet another great success for the railway. Trains were crowded with happy families travelling from Leicester North, Rothley and Loughborough Central to the spectacular bonfire and fireworks display at Quorn & Woodhouse station yard.

Adding to the unique atmosphere of a GCR Bonfire Night was, of course, the view of a steam locomotive resting at Quorn & Woodhouse station giving an additional boost to the event. No.48624 and No.777 “Sir Lamiel” provided a suitable backdrop to the fireworks spectacular.

Michael Sutton captured the atmosphere with this view of LMS 8F 2-8-0 No.48624 simmering at the station.

The GCR will be having a “Last Fling” with four locomotives in steam on the weekend of 16th and 17th November before the Santa Season starts on 23rd November. Book early for both these events and enjoy another GCR spectacle.
