Loughborough Loco Shed Temporary Pathway Closure

Do please be aware that the pathway leading to the Loco shed from the pedestrian crossing at the north end of Loughborough station platform is expected to be closed from now until mid-September.

This is for the installation of an underground oil/water separator, oil tanks and pump station, plus the exchange of the existing Reverse Osmosis plant for an updated one. This will, of course, be a major and much needed improvement in the Railway's infrastructure but it will represent an inconvenience in the short term, for which we apologise. However, due to the deep excavations and numerous trip hazards, safety requirements offer no practical alternative.

At weekends (but not on weekdays), we envisage that entry will be possible to the Loco Shed via the Warner Place gate. If using this route, we would advise visitors to allow some 15 minutes to arrive from/ return to the station via Warner Place, Wharncliffe Road and Great Central Road.

Every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.
