Crossing the Canal appeal total reaches £412,000!

We're delighted to report that the Crossing the Canal appeal total has passed the £400,000 mark and now stands at £412,000 raised so far!

The current condition of both parapets as restoration continues.

While work on the site itself has paused to await the next planned closure of the canal, which has been negotiated with the Canal and River Trust, later this year, work has continued to restore and repair the distinctive lattice parapets which were removed from the bridge and taken to a contractors premises for expert attention.

We have received photographs from the contractor on Tuesday 2nd July showing the works in progress. The images show that a replacement flange has now been fabricated and attached to the parapet to replace a section of the original metalwork.

We will bring more news on the appeal in early July, and thank you for your tremendous support.
