Photographic lineside permits are available to any member of Friends of Great Central Main Line over the age of 18 who is in good health and has knowledge of basic trackside safety procedures. A health declaration must be signed and the safety knowledge is tested by means of a self-assessment form.
There are certain 'no-go' areas which are notified from time to time. They currently include the Loughborough yard to the north of the station platform and Swithland viaduct.
Before exercising the privileges of the permit, holders must sign on at a Station. A book provided for the purpose will carry any relevant notices for the day.
Passes are only valid on normal operating days and are issued for a period of 12 months and cost £25, plus an administration fee of £5. This administration fee is not charged for renewals of existing permits.
Application forms are available from Loughborough Station Booking Office and completed forms must be accompanied by a passport style photograph, the appropriate fee and proof of ID. Passes and a special Hi-Vis vest can then be collected from Loughborough Booking Office after 2 weeks.
