Diesel Gala - details updated! - Saturday 17 April 2010 to Sunday 18 April 2010

Please note - the 03 and class 31 locomotives failed today and have been withdrawn from the event on Sunday. Apologies for any inconvienience caused.

The GCR is delighted to confirm a visit from Class 26 007 to be the star guest at this gala. The locomotive will arrive shortly before the event. It is the first time a class 26 has visited the line to haul passenger trains.

Our heritage diesel fleet gets a spring run out!

Main line locomotives currently expected to take part are Class 20 D8098, Class 25 D5185, visiting Class 26 26 007Class 27 D5401, Class 31 D5830, Class 37 37314, Class 45 D123, Class 47 D1705 and visiting Class 50 50 007

Refreshments including real ale will be available on certain trains. Saturday night will see a special real ale and food train, rostered to be top and tailed by the 25, 26 and 27 - a brace of type 2s. Stay for the weekend with our good value two day fares.

The resident Class 03 shunter is expected to work a shuttle train during the event as is the Class 101 DMU.

Attractions vary from day to day. All locomotives appear subject to availability. If you are travelling to ride behind something specific please check before you set off. Please note the previosuly advertised appearance by the Class 33 has been cancelled - the engine is unavailable. This means the 4BIG set will also not appear.

  • Heritage Railway Association Passes are not valid at this event (full fare payable)
  • Reciprocal 'Free Travel' arrangements with other heritage railways for their volunteers and staff are suspended for this event, although persons normally eligible for this will be able to buy tickets at the privilege rate.
