Great Central Wartime Weekend 2010

LIVE THE EXPERIENCE OF WARTIME BRITAIN

We're proud to present our annual 40’s Wartime Event on June 12th and 13th, supported by the Royal British Legion – entitled “Live the experience of Wartime Britain”.
Trains also run on 11th of June. 11am, 1pm and 3 pm departures from Loughborough Central.
Loughborough and Quorn will provide the ‘Home Front’. Meet look-a-like vocalist Vera Lynn and King George VI, Churchill, General Montgomery and other famous faces. Lola Lamour and Dickie Lines will take us back in time at Quorn including a special 40’s night in the main marquee. There will be plenty of refreshments available at all stations.
Other attractions include a display military and vintage vehicles at Quorn, a Dakota flypast on Saturday afternoon, a special Remembrance Service on Sunday at 10:30 and the closing ceremony preceded by the Spitfire flypast which will be attended by the Mayoress of Charnwood.
Rothley and Leicester North will portray France being occupied by German Forces – who will stage a battle at Rothley and a skirmish at Leicester North with the allies.
