We have two events today.

September 5th sees the Quorn Railwayana Swapmeet celebrate it’s 25th anniversary. Started in the large car park at Quorn station on the GCR this is the second oldest railwayana event in the UK!

It all started way back in 1985 when as Bob Withers the organizer says ‘there was a distinct lack of events for collectors” ( hard to believe 25yrs later with nearly an event every week )
Run on a car boot style the event has stayed largely unaltered in it’s concept namely that every one pays the same entrance fee whether buying ,selling or just browsing. This has over the years been the events success attracting not only the regular dealers but the casual sellers as well. Quorn central location and the back drop of live steam on the countries only double track main line helps to give the event it’s unique feel and only occasionally can the weather spoil the fun.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary the admission price in September will include a voucher for a free return ride on the GCR from Quorn to Leicester North which for a small charge can be upgraded to a full trip. Bob Withers and the Quorn team would like to invite both old and new friends to help them celebrate this great event.

Meanwhile if you are a diesel fan, our Summer star guest diesel D9009 will haul the 12.15pm departure today. It's also 'Deltic Preservation Society' members weekend. Any members of the DPS can travel free on any of our trains (on the 4th and 5th of September).
