People with walking or mobility difficulties are advised to start their journey at either Quorn & Woodhouse or Rothley stations.

Loughborough Central Station

The heart of the railway.

The station hosts a museum, a refreshment room and shop.

This is the place where restaurant car passengers should board their train.

By Car Loughborough Central Station is located south east of Loughborough town centre. There is roadside parking nearby.

From the North
Leave the M1 at Junction 23,
Take A512 to Loughborough,
now follow instructions as from west below:

From the West
Take A512 to Loughborough,
Turn RIGHT at 2nd roundabout (past University) onto Epinal Way (A6004),
Turn LEFT at 3rd roundabout (just past petrol station) onto Shelthorpe Road,
(DO NOT FOLLOW GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY SIGN - this points to Quorn Station)
Follow Shelthorpe road to its end,
At traffic lights turn LEFT (towards town centre) onto A6,
At traffic lights, signposted A60 Nottingham, turn RIGHT into King St.
After 50 yards at road fork, turn RIGHT into Great Central Road.
Loughborough Central Station is on the left at the top of the bridge.

From the South
Leave the M1 at Junction 21A,
take A46 then A6 North to Loughborough
At One Ash Roundabout (near Quorn) turn RIGHT (signed crematorium & Town centre)
(DO NOT FOLLOW GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY SIGN on the left- this points to Quorn station)
Follow A6 towards Loughborough,

At Traffic Lights, signposted A60 Nottingham, turn RIGHT into King St.
After 50 yards at road fork, turn RIGHT into Great Central Road.
Loughborough Central Station is on the left at the top of the bridge.
Street parking (no restrictions) at Loughborough.


By Train Loughborough (National Rail) station, served by the Midland Mainline and Central Trains services is about a 15 minute walk.
Frequent service from Leicester, Nottingham and London, other services to Derby, Sheffield and Birmingham, change at Leicester, Derby or Nottingham for a wider range of services. An on-line timetable is available at Trainline.com.
There is a taxi rank at the National Rail station.
Our ticket office staff can book a return taxi to the National Rail station for you, please ask upon arrival as taxis can be quite busy in the late afternoons.

Quorn and Woodhouse Station

At busier times Quorn's large car park is the best place to catch trains. The station also hosts swap-meets, bonfire night fireworks, and other special events.

A good place to catch the action at Gala weekends.

Now fully signalled for the double track.

Rothley Station

Complete with its own car park, Rothley is the place to see trains pass.

People with mobility difficulties or walking problems will find this the best place to start thier journey, as parking is adjacent to the platform whose access is via a ramp.

A garden railway operates at Rothley most weekends.

Light refreshments available most weekends.

Leicester North

The southern terminus of the railway. Limited parking facilities.
For security, Monday - Friday, the gate is opened once the first train has arrived.

By Car Signs from Redhill roundabout (near McDonalds) on outer ring road.
Please note that parking is very limited at Leicester North, use the left side of the approach road but avoid parking in the turning circle at the top of the road.
