Beer Festival – Thu 12th to Sun 15th September 2019

Great Central Railway's annual beer festival returns for its twelfth year and is better than ever! Take your taste buds on a sentimental journey at our 4-day beer festival. This year SEVENTY guest beers are on offer, specially selected from different breweries; ciders and perry too.

Trains are running on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a variety of both steam and diesel power. Please note there are evening trains running on both Friday & Saturday to help visitors to return to where they'd most like to be!

The festival starts on Thursday 12th September at midday.

It costs just £4 to enter the event at Loughborough but, best of all, entry is FREE to anyone buying a ticket to travel on our trains that weekend!

GCR’s normal train fares apply with an adult all day runabout for just £18

Come to Quorn on Friday, Saturday & Sunday for the Pistons & Pumps Festival - there’s a variety of traction engines, plus classic and vintage vehicles, on display, besides the beer.

We'll also be offering live evening music:  on Friday (Ska-Amanga) & Saturday (Jersey Budd) from 7.30 pm approx

A range of food will be available in our Butler Henderson café (daytime) and external caterers.

There'll also be a Gin, Cocktails and Prosecco bar at Quorn - operated by Yay Hospitality.

Train Timetables

A mixture of steam and diesel locomotives are in action on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for our Beer Festival. Please note that no trains are running on Thursday 12th September.

1. Day returns to Leicester at £16 adults (no senior concession) and children £8 are available after 2.30 pm. These tickets can be used as runabouts, without restriction.

2. After 2.30pm, family tickets may be sold for a £5 discount on the fares shown.

3. Registered disabled visitors are charged at the £16 day return to Leicester rate; these tickets can be used as runabouts without time restriction. An accompanying registered carer is offered a free complimentary fare.

4. Friends of Great Central Main Line members are entitled (upon production of current valid membership card) to reduced Privilege runabout fares of £10 (£6 child).

5. The above fares structure may be suspended for special events.

6. Children's fares apply to those aged 16 or under; children under age 3 travel free (except at certain special events).

7. Dogs, cycles and large items of luggage are a flat fare of £2.

8. Students (on production of a valid NUS card) may travel at the £16 day return to Leicester rate; these tickets can be used as runabouts without time restriction.

9. For visitors with Heritage Railway Association passes, Privilege rate fares apply as per Note 4. above (on production of a valid membership card); this concession will NOT apply for certain special event days.

10. Our standard adult runabout fare (valid on all advertised services with standard class accommodation, except reservation only services (including Santa trains)) is £40 - this is valid for use on one day only during the 31 days from date of issue.

All railway locomotives release, on occasions, oily deposits into the atmosphere, including cinders from steam locos. We regret that we cannot take responsibility for damage to visitors’ clothing, vehicles or other personal belongings caused by these occurrences.
