Quorn & Woodhouse Station Bus Rally - Saturday 27th April 2019

in conjunction with Leicester Transport Heritage Trust

featuring:

  • Display of Buses and Coaches in Quorn Station Yard
  • Free Heritage Bus Services at frequent intervals throughout the day, with up to six departures per hour, including connections to Loughborough Central (GCR) and Loughborough Midland (East Midlands Trains) stations
  • Transport stalls in Quorn Station Yard
  • Tea Bar in the "Tin Shed" at Quorn
  • Intensive train timetable, featuring the railway's purple timetable, but with additional diesel railcar services

This event provides you the opportunity to travel one way by bus and one way by train between Quorn and Woodhouse and Loughborough Central stations

Fares. The GCR's normal fare structure applies (see full fare details below), with short-hop tickets available to enable visitors to take short rides on our steam and diesel trains; however, HRA passes are not valid at this event.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm.

First free heritage bus from Loughborough Midland to Quorn is at: 9.40am

An additional bus from Loughborough Midland to Loughborough Central will run at: 9.10am

Last free heritage bus from Quorn to Loughborough Midland at: 5.35pm

Car parking for disabled visitors in the station yard will only be available if you book in advance.  Please contact marketing@gcrailway.co.uk to reserve your space.

Public parking will be in the field adjacent to Quorn & Woodhouse Station.  Parking is £3 per car, payable at the station booking office.

Entry to this event is free.  Visitors are encouraged to purchase an event programme (available from GCR station booking offices and from Rally Control in Quorn station yard) in order to defray costs.

Car parking

Loughborough: LE11 1RW. On street parking is available but the surrounding roads will be busy.
Quorn: LE12 8AG. Public parking in the field immediately adjacent to the station, £3 per car. Limited free parking for disabled in the station yard.
Rothley: LE7 7LD. There is limited car parking in the station yard.
Leicester North: LE4 3BR. There is limited car parking on the immediate approach to the station.

Notes

1. After 2.30pm, family tickets may be sold for a £5 discount on the fares shown.

2. Registered disabled visitors are charged at the £16 day return to Leicester rate; these tickets can be used as runabouts without time restriction. An accompanying registered carer is offered a free complimentary fare.

3. Friends of Great Central Main Line members are entitled (upon production of current valid membership card) to reduced Privilege runabout fares of £10 (£6 child).

4. Children's fares apply to those aged 16 or under; children under age 3 travel free (except at certain special events).

5. Dogs, cycles and large items of luggage are a flat fare of £2.

6. Students (on production of a valid NUS card) may travel at the £16 day return to Leicester rate; these tickets can be used as runabouts without time restriction.

7. Heritage Railway Association passes are not valid at this event.
