Meet the Moshi Monsters – 1st & 2nd June

Book Tickets OnlineKatsuma & Poppet have taken a short break from their latest mission on the streets of Monstro City to visit The Great Central Railway and will be appearing at intervals between 11.00am and 3.30pm.

AT LOUGHBOROUGH

  • Meet Katsuma at 11.00, 12.00, 1.00, 2.00 & 3.00
  • Meet Poppet at 11.30, 12.30, 1.30, 2.30 & 3.30
  • Meet the Beasts in our marquee. Snakes, spiders, snails and other creepy crawlies with Dr Stuart, who will be giving talks on all things beastly!
  • Activity Corner - colouring in
  • Refreshment room - visit our refreshment room situated on the platform for hot and cold refreshments

AT QUORN

  • FREE face painting - 10am - 4pm (suitable for 3 years and over, FDA approved)
  • Picture hunt - follow the clues to find the hidden pictures around the station.  There's the chance to win a prize!
  • Butler Henderson - open for hot and cold refreshments

AT ROTHLEY

  • Funfair rides - £5 for multi rides or alternatively all rides can be paid for on an individual basis.
  • Explore the miniature garden railway
  • Ellis Tea Rooms - open for hot and cold refreshments, and a wonderful selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes

AT LEICESTER NORTH

  • Bouncy castle situated in grounds of the Platform Cafe at Greenacres  - £1 for every session
  • Play doh corner and colouring in activities situated in The Platform Cafe at Greenacres
  • The Platform Cafe at Greenacres - open for hot and cold refreshments

Please note: The Platform Cafe at Greenacres is an approximate 20 yard stroll from Leicester North station

YOUR TRAIN JOURNEY
Please note: Katsuma and Poppet are too big to fit onto the train!

  • Start and finish your journey at any one of our 4 stations and hop on and off along the way ALL day long
  • Enjoy a 16 mile return trip behind a steam engine

CAR PARKING:

Please note:  Sunday 2nd June - There will be no parking available at Quorn station until after 11.00am. Should you wish to arrive prior to 11.00am may we suggest that you park at Loughborough where there is free on street parking.

Loughborough: Free on street parking is available. Please be aware that  we can get very busy, so do allow time to walk to the station from your car in order to arrive on time for the train and/or character appearance
Quorn: This is the event's principal car park and is free of charge
Rothley: There is very limited free car parking in the station yard due to the funfair.
Leicester North: There is limited free car parking on the immediate approach to the station.

NB: All tickets include unlimited rail travel and all entertainment except for the funfair at Rothley, which is £5 per person for multi, all day rides or alternatively rides can be paid for on an individual basis. The bouncy castle at Leicester North / Greenacres  will be  charged at £1 per session

PLATFORM TICKETS AT LOUGHBOROUGH WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE

SHORT HOP TICKETS BETWEEN STATIONS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE

    • Normal discounts apply for members of Friends of Great Central Main Line to buy Privilege rate tickets.
    • Members of Friends of the GCML are entitled to the normal privilege fares upon production of membership card.
    • HRA passes will not be valid – pass holders can travel at Privilege rates
    • Working members of other heritage railways with whom GCR has reciprocal arrangements for reduced fares, will be eligible for Privilege fares upon production of valid working membership cards.
    • Same arrangements apply as above for holders of ex British Rail and Train Operating Company passes

Steam and diesel trains are running from Friday to Monday in our annual Beer Festival event. (The festival is also open on Thursday with no trains running).
