Getting there:
All passengers must board the train at Mountsorrel Station which can be found on Bond Lane - unfortunately there's no post code for the station.  Visitors must arrive by car as there's no access train from Great Central Railway.

Parking:
There's limited parking at Bond Lane with priority being given to disabled passengers and those with mobility issues -  there is an overflow car park, in a field, adjacent to the station, but this is weather dependant.  We advise our visitors to park at the new Heritage Centre which is approximately 300m away on Swithland Lane.  On-site marshals will be on hand to help with directions and parking.

Facilities:
Toilets and refreshments (drinks, burgers etc) are available at Bond Lane.

Accessibility:
Priority parking at Bond Lane will be given to the less-able visitor. Access to the trains is via a disability friendly path from the car park. Wheel chair access to board the train is yet to be determined and will be confirmed nearer to the time - please check back soon for more details.  There are no disabled toilets on site.

Buying your tickets:
Advance booking is strongly recommended as capacity is very limited and we are anticipating a lot of interest in the event.  Tickets are not available from any of our main GCR booking offices at Loughborough/ Quorn/ Rothley/ Leicester.  If you wish to purchase tickets on the day please bring cash as cards will not be accepted; please purchase your ticket via a ticket inspector.

Advance tickets holders:
Advance ticket holders will take priority.  Please arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to your departure.  Late arrivals can only be accommodated on later trains if space permits.

Your train journey:
The train will be top and tailed with 2 small steam locos and the coaching stock is hoped to be a Suburban brake compartment coach alongside a small saloon.  If you are in a party or family group, it may not be possible to sit together as the compartments seat approximately 10 people and there are no reservations.  The journey will last approximately half an hour and is a 2.4 mile round trip from Mountsorrel Station to the GCR at Swithland Sidings.  Passengers will pass through the site of the new Mountsorrel & Rothley Community Heritage Centre, served by Nunckley Hill station, which will open in 2016. The train passes through woodland, as well as open countryside, giving views of Bradgate Park and Beacon Hill as the train approaches the GCR.

On departure:
After the train journey there are free guided tours of the under-construction heritage centre site for visitors with a Mountsorrel Railway train ticket valid for that day. To take advantage of this offer visitors should make their way to the heritage centre.

Photography: do please be aware that the Branch is an operational railway and that entry is strictly prohibited other than for fare paying passengers when they join the train at Mountsorrel Halt. Any railway is potentially dangerous and the Branch is especially so due to tight clearances - please don't be a danger to yourself or others!

For registered GCR lineside permit holders only (with valid permits), it will be possible to gain entry and take photos at the Nunckley Hill/ Heritage Centre site (off Swithland Lane) over the opening weekend. Otherwise, the Branch remains closed for the special safety reason noted above, for all lineside photography, both current and future.

All attractions, locomotives and timings are subject to change.  GCR reserves the right to cancel or amend any attraction or service.  Please bear in mind that this is the first time passenger trains have run on the branch so they may not run as scheduled - we will do our utmost to adhere to the timetable as best we can.
