Railways at Work Gala – Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd May
Our popular 'Railways at Work' event returns for 3 days in 2016!
***Latest news 06.05.16: GWR 42xx Class 2-8-0t No. 4247 will now not feature at the Gala after arriving at GCR and being certified as unfit to run. Obviously, we are very disappointed and 4247 is to be replaced by ex LMS 2-8-0 no 48624.
No 4247 will however be available at Loughborough loco shed for viewing. ***
Guest locomotive No. 53808 and No. 46521 in brand new Brunswick green livery will be the stars of the Gala alongside plenty of GCR’s magnificent home fleet. The event will showcase how railways moved freight around the country, becoming a lifeline to towns and villages ahead of the age of mass road transportation.
