Daily image gallery

Several new images being published each day...

At the start of the national 'lockdown' due to the coronavirus, we began posting a series of archive images each day showing the Great Central Railway at its best, and the "Daily Gallery" has proved to be a popular addition to our website and social media channels.

With the railway temporarily closed once again in January due to the national lockdown, we'll continue posting a mixture of archive and current photographs each day!  Special thanks to the photographers who have kindly provided images for use here.

We hope you enjoy the selection each day.

Join broadcaster Tom Ingall in an online conversation with leading lights from the Boscastle project, to discuss its career in service, how it was saved for the GCR and its first period in traffic in the 70s. We'll also hear the latest about its current overhaul. The powerful West Country Class locomotive is destined to be a popular flagship loco for the railway for years to come.
We're asking for a donation of £10 to join the talk, with proceeds will be split between Boscastle Locomotive Ltd and the Reunification Project.

As 2020 draws to a close, we reflect on a year which none of us anticipated.
We would like to thank every member of the GCR family who has stepped forward so magnificently to see us though this most difficult year, giving their time, energy, and goodwill to operate the railway in a Covid-secure manner, delivering a regular train service which has been enjoyed by so many since we resumed operation in July.
Thank you also to every passenger, visitor, and supporter for your tremendous support and good wishes during these most difficult times. We have been extremely grateful for the many kind comments and messages received, and it has been a joy to see our visitors enjoying their time with us.
We are very much looking forward to the return of train services in 2021 as the situation improves, and look forward to seeing you all soon.
We wish you all a very Happy New Year.
