The detailed design of the Factory Flyover is complete. The hard work of leading bridge specialists Cass Hayward has taken the concept and turned it into construction ready design drawings in the space of a few weeks.
Fifty two drawings, twenty five schedules for the reinforcement metal bending and one technical specification document later we’re now all but ready to go out to tender. This is the process which will see contractors examine the designs and bid to build the Factory Flyover.
The total estimated price is £3.5m which includes the design work (which has just finished), the actual build and some contingency funds because this is the most complex section we have built so far.
We’ll need to work with Network Rail as we build up to the existing Midland Main Line bridge and the relevant highways team as we cross Railway Terrace. We also want to be as considerate as we can to PreciSpark as we occupy their car park. The total build should take around nine months and of course we can’t wait to get started and put more railway in place.
However, we only have £2.7m banked. It’s a handsome amount and has been raised through your generosity. We can’t go to tender and get the build going until we are much closer to the £3.5m required. Your donations are closing the funding gap and the more we raise the sooner we can get building.
