Easter Animal Fun

During part of the Easter Half term we will turn the Great Central Railway into an animal lover’s haven. We will be welcoming back our favourite cute cuddlies, reptiles, and creepy crawlies, so come along and hang out with Elvis, Tula, Petal and Tiny Tim.

Bring your cameras with you as there will be lots of photo opportunities.

Easter Animal Fun trains operate to the same timetable each day.



Family Ticket: £40 (2 adults & up to 3 children)
£30 (1 adult & up to 3 children)
Adult: £18

Children: £9 (aged 3-16 inclusive)
Under 3s: Free of charge

Tickets allow unlimited travel on our passenger trains (excluding the separate Mountsorrel Branch diesel railcar services on Wednesdays) and all entertainment except for the fun fair and face painting which have a small additional charge.

No short hop tickets available between stations (except for separate Mountsorrel Branch train tickets available on Wednesdays). Platform tickets are not available at Loughborough Central during this event.

*Normal discounts apply for members of Friends of Great Central Main Line to buy Privilege rate tickets upon production of membership card.
*HRA passes will not be valid
*Working members of other heritage railways with whom GCR has reciprocal arrangements for reduced fares, will be eligible for Privilege fares upon production of valid working membership cards.
*Same arrangements apply as above for holders of ex British Rail and Train Operating Company passes.




Loughborough:  LE11 1RW. On street parking is available but the surrounding roads will be busy. Many double yellow lines have been added to roads in the area, so parking is increasingly scarce.


Quorn: LE12 8AG.  This is GCR's main car park.


Rothley: LE7 7LD. There is very limited free car parking in the station yard due to the children's funfair and the designated disabled area.


Leicester North: LE4 3BR.  There is limited free car parking on the immediate approach to the station.


All locomotives and attractions appear subject to availability, GCR reserve the right to cancel or amend any service.

Passengers are conveyed by the Company's trains in accordance with the Company's "Conditions of Carriage" (as shown on this website).

Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday
Chase and Skye from PAW Patrol are visiting the GCR this week.

One steam locomotive and our diesel railcar will be operating.

Our trains are operating normally this week and the railway is not currently affected by flooding.
