Heritage Bus Rally – Saturday 9th October 2021

Free bus rides on a variety of routes (including to and from Loughborough Central (GCR) and Loughborough Midland (EMR) stations

Enhanced train service with steam and diesel locomotives and diesel railcar

Short-hop train fares available, enabling you to travel between Quorn and Loughborough one way by free heritage bus and one way by steam or diesel train

Transport sales stands inside the marquee at Quorn

Vehicle displays and large bus parking area

Large Car Park in adjacent field (charge payable)

Programmes for the event will be available for £3 on the day, with full timetables, at all GCR station booking offices and in the station yard. An up-to-date vehicle allocation sheet will be available to anyone who has bought a programme; these will be available at the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust stand inside the marquee at Quorn. Please support the event by buying a programme.

Bus Stops at Loughborough Stations 

The bus stop at Loughborough Central will be immediately outside the main entrance on Great Central Road.  Bus stop sign, timetable and cones will be provided.

The stopping point at Loughborough Midland will be the bus layby on the bus exit road in the in the station car park.  Bus stop sign and timetable will be provided here.

Coronavirus

A few of the bus owners have specifically requested that all passengers on their vehicles wear face coverings. Where this applies, it will be displayed clearly on the vehicle as you board.  Some vehicles may restrict capacity.
On all other vehicles, face coverings are encouraged but not mandatory.
Sanitary stations are provided at various points around the site. Please sanitise your hands frequently as you move around.

Fares

Normal train fares apply at this event, except that HRA passes are not valid today. Short-hop train fares are available, enabling you to travel between Quorn and Loughborough one way by free heritage bus and one way by steam or diesel train. Entry to the site at Quorn is free.

Programmes for the event will be available on the day, with full timetables and vehicle allocations, at all GCR station booking offices and in the station yard. Please support the event by buying a programme.

Two steam locomotives and one diesel loco are due to be in action during the Heritage Bus Rally. Visiting GWR 2-8-0 is operating for its final weekend before returning home.

Transport to and from the event -

For those coming by train to Loughborough Midland (EMR) station, free heritage buses will run to the event at Quorn & Woodhouse Station at 9.40am, 10.05am, 10.35am and at frequent intervals throughout the day, with the last bus back at 5.15pm from Quorn.

For those coming by car, parking will be available in the field adjacent to Quorn & Woodhouse station; a parking fee of £3 is payable at the station booking office. Limited parking for disabled will be available in the station yard.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to park in the field, please use the public car park at Beehive Lane, Loughborough LE11 2TS. A free heritage bus will leave the former bus layby on Southfield Road near the Premier Inn (opposite Beehive Lane car park) from 9.23am at hourly intervals.
