Diesel Gala – 6th, 7th, 8th September 2019

Our September Diesel Gala runs for three days from 6th to 8th September 2019.

Warship replaces Clayton:
We are now expecting Warship Class D821 "Greyhound" to star at our September Diesel Gala as a high-calibre replacement for the originally advertised Clayton D8568. The sole-surviving Clayton is no longer available to attend the event to circumstances beyond our control. We apologise for any disappointment that this may cause.

8 locos from the home fleet are also expected to feature during an exciting weekend where we work the locos to an intensive timetable.

Heritage Bus Shuttle - Saturday 7th September

A free bus shuttle from Loughborough Midland (East Midlands Railway) to Loughborough Central station will run on Saturday 7th September, provided by Leicester Transport Heritage Trust, as follows:

From Loughborough Midland at: 08.30, 09.10, 09.38, 10.05 (takes 10 minutes)

From Loughborough Central at: 16.20, 17.00, 17.55, 18.35 (takes 12 minutes)

Bus Times have been designed to connect with train services at both stations, as far as possible. It will not normally be possible to wait for late-running trains, but we will endeavour to delay bus departures slightly when a train arrival is imminent. However, the last bus of the day will wait for the train due at Loughborough Central at 1830, in the event of late running. There is no bus connection off later trains. There will be no bus shuttle on the Friday or Sunday.

Bus Stops: Buses stop at the bus exit layby at Loughborough Midland (not the bus shelters) and at the station entrance at Loughborough Central. No other bus stops will be served.

While every effort will be made to maintain services, we do not guarantee that trains or buses will arrive/ depart at the times published. LTHT and GCR reserve the right to alter or suspend any bus, train or attraction without notice. No liability for any loss, inconvenience or delay can be accepted.

Test car 2 on display

The unique "Test Car 2" is expected to be on public display at Quorn & Woodhouse during the event. The vehicle was predominantly used for slip/brake testing of freight wagons and has been lovingly restored by the Quorn Wagon Group. More details will appear in the event programme.
