The First Hurrah – Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June 2021

The First Hurrah promises to be an exciting event, now over two days on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th June 2021, with four steam locomotives and one diesel loco in action. Our diesel railcar will also be in service.

Although the present situation doesn't allow us to run our usual gala programme until later in the year, we are looking forward to staging an event which allows visitors to travel behind different steam locomotives in a busy timetable on our double track, in a safe and socially-distanced environment.

  • Travel behind all four steam locomotives on each specially timetabled journey.
  • Four superb steam locomotives in action.
    • British Railways Standard Class 5 73156.
    • GWR Modified Hall 6990 "Witherslack Hall".
    • Stanier Class 8 48305.
    • Ivatt Class 2 46521.
  • Diesel-hauled freight train passing during the day.

Unfortunately, Stanier Class 5 45305 is no longer available for this event, and has been replaced by Ivatt Class 2 46521.

Tickets will be sold for a journey where each of the four steam locomotives will haul the train for a portion of the trip. Trains will depart from Quorn & Woodhouse, and will also visit Loughborough Central and Leicester North (twice), with an opportunity to stop at Rothley during the journey too.
