Join us for an unforgettable summer evening aboard the Great Central Railway as one of our heritage steam takes you to one of Leicestershire’s most idyllic locations to enjoy a delicious fish and chip supper whilst experiencing the spectacular 2026 solar eclipse.

Departing from Loughborough, as you tuck in to your supper, your heritage steam train will travel along the line before stopping at Swithland Viaduct, where you’ll enjoy stunning views across Swithland Reservoir as the moon passes across the face of the sun. It’s a rare opportunity to experience this remarkable natural phenomenon from the unique surroundings of a heritage railway.

Our onboard stewards will be on hand throughout the evening to serve a selection of drinks directly to your seat. After the eclipse, sit back and relax as your steam-hauled journey continues along the line to Leicester North before returning to Loughborough Central.

The train will depart at 18.45, please arrive 30 minutes beforehand to take your seat and ensure we depart on time. Please note that timings for the eclipse are approximate and are subject to the precise astronomical conditions on the day.

The Great Central Railway cannot guarantee clear weather or sighting of the eclipse and refunds will not be given on this basis.
