Sulzers Takes The Spotlight

Join us on Friday 17th October for our Sulzer Running Day. It’s a thrilling high mileage running day where you can rack up plenty of miles with our home fleet engines plus it’s one of the last opportunities to catch Class 27 D5370 while visiting us. With an intense timetable running into the evening, this event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a busy timetable dedicated to the Sulzers at our normal fares!

It’s going to be a thrilling running day where you can rack up plenty of miles with your choice of traction!

On Board Refreshments

We’ll be keeping you well-fed and refreshed throughout the day! Join us bright and early at 9:45am to enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast from our Griddle Car – the perfect way to start your diesel day out. Over on the B Set, our Refreshment Car will be serving up a great selection of drinks, including hand-pulled ales, ciders, spirits, and plenty of other beverages and snacks to keep you going between trains.

A Little History About Class 33 D6535

Class 33 D6535, built in 1960, is a ‘Crompton’ locomotive that once served the Southern Region of British Rail. Now preserved at Great Central Railway, it continues to haul heritage services, offering visitors a chance to experience classic diesel traction in action.

    4.3% – golden juicy ale brewed with motueka, Amarillo and mosaic hops.

    4.2% – a hoppy session pale using sorachi ace, ekuanot, pacific jade and eldorado hops.

    5.0% – traditional chestnut bitter with a complex malt aroma and flavour.
  • 1 x Citra pale
    4.2% – single citra hopped session pale.
  • x Ashbourne Ale
    4.0% – Light amber easy drinking best bitter.

Stations Information

When purchasing a runabout ticket, you will have access to travel on all our standard passenger trains throughout the day, allowing you to hop on and off to explore all our historic stations.
