Welcome to our brand new website. This is the place to find the latest official news for the Reunification project.
We want to reconnect two halves of the Great Central Railway by rebuilding 500 metres of railway. Joining the lines will create an 18 mile railway between the north of Leicester and the south of Nottingham, telling different stories and showing the transformation railways brought to the UK.
It’s a very big task but the good news is three parts of the jigsaw are already in place.
In 2017 a new bridge was placed over the Midland Main Line to one day carry heritage trains above the national railway network. In 2020, a major overhaul was completed on an existing bridge over the Grand Union canal. It is now ready for trains again.
Finally – for now – in 2022 a major bridge over the A60 road in Loughborough was replaced. It too is ready for trains again.
This work has only happened because of supporters like yourself, generously donating to the project. Every pound helps and we want to get building again as soon as possible.
Keep your eyes peeled for more news, video updates and our appeals. If you like what we’re doing, please join the donors from around the world already helping out.
