Enjoy a sophisticated Friday evening aboard the GCR’s Rothley Rose first-class dining train, combining heritage steam travel with a wine pairing experience featuring award-winning wines from the Rothley Wine Estate, located just a short walk from Rothley Station.
Working closely with the vineyard, the Great Central Railway chefs have created a seasonal menu designed to perfectly complement the vineyard’s wines, made with grape varieties chosen to suit the local soil and microclimate of the Charnwood Forest Geopark.
Your evening begins at the beautifully restored Edwardian Rothley Station, styled to reflect its appearance in 1912. The train arrives at 6:45pm, with guests welcomed on board from 7:00pm with freshly prepared canapés and a sparkling wine starter.
Guests will enjoy a glass of the award-winning New Sovereign served with the starter course prior to departure, followed by a tasting of three distinctive Rothley Wine Estate wines over the main course. Dessert is paired with a further glass of the vineyard’s distinctive Battle Royal Rosé, before the evening concludes with tea, coffee and indulgent chocolate truffles.
Alcohol-Free Option
An alcohol-free experience is also available. Guests will be greeted with a refreshing mocktail on arrival, followed by a selection of premium non-alcoholic wines thoughtfully paired with each course, ensuring everyone can enjoy the full Rothley Rose experience.
