Loving Leicester North appeal update

October 15, 2025

We’re a month into our appeal to raise £30,000 to give our southern terminus a face lift. Leicester North is now more than 30 years old. We need to make some repairs and give it a lick of paint so it’s ready to welcome passengers and support our team of volunteers for the next thirty years!

You’ve helped us raise £6,000 in the last month. You might remember a generous donor has offered to match your donations pound for pound until the 17th of November. In other words that 6 has become 12! Even better, a grant of £750 has pushed the total even higher.

We’re just short of halfway to our total of £30,000. Please consider making a donation because every pound will help with our planned programme of improvements. We hope to carry out the work this winter. Click on the donation button below because everything that comes in through the ‘general donations’ route to David Clarke Railway Trust will be counted towards match funding.

Thank you so much for your support!

How you can help

Support the future of the Great Central Railway by donating today.
Your generous contribution helps safeguard this unique heritage line, not only through the landmark Reunification project—which will reconnect two separate heritage railways to create an eighteen-mile route from the north of Leicester to the south of Nottingham—but also in the vital day-to-day running of the railway.
Donations directly support the maintenance and restoration of our stations and locomotives, the preservation of historic infrastructure, and the training and development of our dedicated staff and volunteers. They ensure the railway continues to thrive as both a living museum and a community resource.
By giving, you’re helping us preserve one of Britain’s most cherished heritage railways, so that future generations can step aboard, experience authentic steam and diesel travel, and discover the stories of the past. Every contribution, large or small, makes a lasting difference in keeping the spirit of the Great Central Railway alive.
